Jumping Djembes!

Our project Jumping Djembes was a music-making project which took place in Early years Units across a selection of Nottingham’s schools. We planned and delivered over eighty group drumming and singing sessions, which all had a focus on enhancing wellbeing and supporting children with developing and maintaining positive mental health and emotional resilience.

Jumping Djembes concluded with ten interactive performances in ten schools, where children were encouraged to showcase their new musical and social skills. We also organised a public workshop at The New Art Exchange in Nottingham, where children made music with their parents/carers and siblings.

This project was kindly supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, Arts Council England and Nottingham City Council. Workshops at Southwark Primary School were supported by A.W. Lymn Centenary Fund. Nottingham City Council representatives attended workshops and also key members of Nottingham CAMHS.
